Fukagawa Porcelain is a well-established manufacturer of Arita, Japan porcelain since 1894. In 1910, it became the official product of the Imperial Household Agency. Ruri, "Lapis lazuli" color (a distinctive royal blue color) represents Koransha. It is very difficult to achieve this color in porcelain. Fukagawa used flower paintings as his favorite motif since the Meiji period. Magnolias and sakura/ume (cherry blossoms) are beautifully drawn with a delicate touch of sometsuke. This signed/marked for authenticity tea set consists of: 5 (five) chawans/ Japanese tea cups and an ume-shaped tea pot equipped inside with a tea strainer. Provenance: Japan, Arita, Nagasaki prefecture. Tea sets in Japan always come in 5 which is a lucky number in Japan, unlike 4 which brings bad luck. Condition: Excellent for age. No chips, cracks or crazing. Please see all the photos attached. Interested buyers are highly encouraged to ask all necessary questions before purchase. Thank you.
